5 Marketing TED Talks that every marketer must watch

Best TED talks, Marketing TED talks, TED best talks, TED talks on Marketing

Being a marketer, one always searches for ways and methods to do something new, to build new strategies and to stand out from the crowd. When you are into marketing you are constantly looking for inspiration and for new ideas. For years now, TED Talks (Technology, Entertainment, Design) have been constantly spreading knowledge and awareness about the various topics in various fields by encouraging the great minds to share their experiences with others. If you are a marketer, then you are going to love, what follows next.
We bring to you the 5 Best Marketing TED talks that will change the way you look at things while marketing your brand.

1. Dan Cobley What Physics taught me about Marketing
Did you ever think that you can learn anything about Marketing through Physics? Well even we never thought about it but one man did and that was Dan Cobley, the Marketing Director at Google. Being passionate about physics and marketing both, he beautifully explains the connection between both through Newton's second law, Heisenberg's uncertainty principle, the scientific method and the second law of thermodynamics. Watch it here and youll certainly thank us for this.

2. Malcom Gladwell Choice, Happiness and Spaghetti Sauce
What do people want??? That is the question that every marketer is asking but when you see this TED talk by Malcom Gladwell then you will realize how wrong your question is. People themselves do not know what they want. Through this video, Malcom talks about the diversity, not following the stereotypes and that is what makes this video a must watch for all the marketers. Give your consumer the power to decide and choose and your numbers will take care of itself.

3. Simon Sinek How great leaders inspire action
People dont buy What you do, people buy Why you do it, well we are not saying so but its Simon Sinek who says so. In this video he talks about hitting the right chord of the audience by asking the question WHY which most of us usually forget. His examples of Apple, Wright Brothers and King Luther will make you believe that until now you have been following the wrong way of connecting with your audience.

4. Seth Godin How to get your ideas to spread
"Ideas that spread, WIN" thats true and mostly everyone knows it as well, but how to spread that ideas is the question and a very important one at that. The answer to that is quite simple "Be Different". Simple to say but difficult to apply. Seth Godin, the Marketing Guru explains this concept wonderfully by breaking down big concepts and combining them with amazing examples. Almost 12 years have passed since this video was filmed but still the things that he spoke about, remain the same. Watch it and getting inspired is guaranteed.

5. Zach King The Storyteller in all of us
Zach King, the youngest in our list, gave out a strong message in a lighter way. Right use of Technology and availability of right tools is all you need to inspire the world. Even if you have a low budget, you can still reach out to people through technology. He wonderfully explained this by presenting his version of starwars (which was quite funny) which gained a huge number of views on YouTube. Share your ideas and there are a lot of people out there waiting to hear them.

We are sure that you loved it and you are not the only one.
They Loved it Too
1. Derek Handova, independent B2B author at B2B News Network on Dan Cobleys What Physics taught me about Marketing

I thought this was the best TED Talk I have seen/listened to on marketing as it lent the patina of science to marketing which many think of as being unscientific and not measurable. I particularly enjoyed his analogy that brands have mass and momentum just like particles in physics have mass and momentum. As just as it takes more force to change the momentum and direction of a more massive particle, it takes more effort to change the perception of large brands such as P&G than it would for smaller brands like Ben & Jerrys. I always keep this TED Talk in the back of my mind in my job where I see brands trying to change their perception all the time in my capacity as an independent B2B author"

2. Tyler Kizner, Account Executive at Racepoint Global on Malcom Gladwells Choice, Happiness and Spaghetti Sauce

One of the most infamous TED talks on this topic came from Malcom Gladwell in 2004 - In this talk, Malcom explores the reinvention of spaghetti sauce - specifically, he talks about Howard Moskowitz's work with Prego and how they approached him to find the perfect spaghetti sauce. Howard determined through rigourous testing that tastes varied too much and finding a perfect spaghetti sauce was nearly impossible - it was only by creating many different varieties of sauce and giving consumer the power to choose that Prego was able to succeed. Applying this to any marketing scenario, it is not the product that sells - what sells is empowering your consumer with the ability to make a decision. Seeking a universal solution to reach a mass market doesn't work because humans differ - it is only be offering diverse choices that brands can succeed.

3. Irina Iliescu on Simon Sinek How great leaders inspire action

The best talk I ever heard is Simon Sinek's How Great Leaders Inspire Action. He manages to explain why authenticity is so important in marketing, how great companies differentiate themselves. The beauty of it all is that he's not telling businesses they should spend more or get better consultants. He talks about hiring people and selling to people that believe in what the company leader believes.

4. Ashley Kubiszyn, Marketing and Communications Director at TicketCity on Seth Godins How to get your ideas to spread

I surveyed a few other office mates who also listen to TED Talks and our overwhelming favorite was How to get your ideas to spread by Seth Godin. He does a great job of making things relevant for todays consumer and explaining why tactics that have worked in the past dont work for todays savvy consumer. Our culture has changed so drastically and as such, the approach to marketing has had to shift as well.

5. Carl, Digital Marketer at VE People on Zach Kings "The Storyteller in all of us"

I like it when Zach king comes out from stage and doing some vines with crowd. Overall he explains and leaves some important message It is not about the money, its all about the Ideas.

We are sure that you have your favorites too, so share them with us in the comments box below even if they are not mentioned in the list.
