It is with great sadness that I share that our founder, Frits Goldschmeding, passed away peacefully on Friday 26 July at the age of 90. With Frits’ passing we lose a great visionary and a wonderful, inspirational personality. Frits founded Randstad on strong community values and his legacy continues to live through all of us. His impact on our industry and contribution to the advancement of flexible work and HR services more broadly can be seen across the world. He will be dearly missed by those who had the honor of getting to know him and working alongside him. This is a very sad day for Randstad and we continue to keep Frits’ family in our thoughts. Miljardair en oprichter van uitzendbedrijf Randstad Frits Goldschmeding is afgelopen vrijdag op 90-jarige leeftijd overleden. Dat heeft Randstad vanochtend bekendgemaakt. Jarenlang was Goldschmeding de rijkste Nederlander. Hij wordt gezien als een van de grootste ondernemers van het land. Vorig jaar stond de miljardair op de derde plek in de Quote 500 met een vermogen van 5,8 miljard euro. Goldschmeding richtte in 1960 uitzendconcern Randstad op na het schrijven van zijn afstudeerscriptie over een flexibelere arbeidsmarkt. Volgens het bedrijf bracht hij dat jaar zijn allereerste uitzendkracht achter op zijn fiets naar haar werk. Hij was 38 jaar lang directeur van Randstad, dat uitgroeide tot een van de grootste uitzendbedrijven wereldwijd. In 1998 stopte hij als directeur, maar bleef actief als lid van de raad van commissarissen van het bedrijf. In 2011 stopte hij definitief. Randstad Frits Goldschmeding die zijn eerste uitzendkracht persoonlijk op de fiets naar haar werk bracht "Met het overlijden van Frits verliezen we een groot visionair en een geweldige, inspirerende persoonlijkheid", zegt huidige CEO van Randstad Sander van 't Noordende. "Zijn invloed op onze sector en zijn bijdrage aan de vooruitgang van flexibel werk en hr-diensten in het algemeen zijn over de hele wereld zichtbaar." 'Niet voor jezelf houden' Dominee Ruben van Zwieten kende Goldschmeding goed. "Hij was een ondernemer zoals je die niet meer aantreft in Nederland. Bij hem draaide niet alles om aandeelhouders. Zijn bedrijf stond midden in de samenleving." Van Zwieten noemt hem een groot voorbeeld voor huidige ondernemers. "Hij heeft zijn eigen multinational steen voor steen opgebouwd. Dat zou je de klassieke American dream kunnen noemen." In 1985 werd Goldschmeding koninklijk onderscheiden als Officier in de Orde van Oranje-Nassau. Tien jaar later, bij het 35-jarig bestaan van Randstad, werd hij benoemd tot Ridder in de Orde van de Nederlandse Leeuw. In 2015 richtte Goldschmeding de Goldschmeding Foundation op. Hiermee wilde hij bijdragen aan een betere wereld en liefde centraal stellen. Goldschmeding vond dat het te vaak om geld ging, en wilde dus ook niet bekendmaken hoeveel geld er in de kas van zijn stichting zat. "Je kon hem altijd bereiken voor een donatie". zegt Van Zwieten, die ook adviseur van de stichting was. "Hij liet zien hoe je rijk gezegend moet zijn. Die zegen kan je niet voor jezelf houden." Volgens de dominee was Goldschmeding een echte calvinist, "wars van verkwisting, maar ook niet zuinig". Important to human relationships is ‘to know’, ‘to serve’ and ‘to trust’. MISSION AND VISION We believe in Love, ‘Agapè’, as the pillar of a better society. Therefore, we support, till the end of time, initiatives that contribute to this within the triangle of people, work and economy. Work can provide a meaningful fulfilment of life. People, and the way in which we interact, are of influence to the value and beauty of life. Relationships and attention for each other form the basis for a sustainable economic development and a better world.
